About Mystic Racing League

Mystic Racing League began in April 2019 when Brandon Willard and a small group of friends came together to host races on NASCAR Heat 3. What started as a simple way for friends to compete quickly developed into an idea for something much bigger. The league’s earliest attempts were short-lived as participation numbers fluctuated and real-life scheduling challenges made maintaining a consistent racing schedule difficult. However, those early setbacks only strengthened the vision for what Mystic Racing League could eventually become. Willard remained committed to building a league that offered organized, competitive racing while remaining accessible to drivers of different backgrounds and skill levels. Rather than walking away from the idea, the lessons learned throughout 2019 became the foundation for a complete rebuild. During the winter of 2019, Mystic Racing League underwent a major transformation. A fully structured schedule was developed with consistency, organization, and accessibility at its core. Beginning in March 2020 and running through November, the newly organized Mystic Racing League officially launched its first full season featuring NASCAR’s three national series alongside a Dirt Late Model Tour. The concept quickly gained traction. More than 75 drivers competed during Mystic Racing League’s first full season, providing the league with an established community and the momentum needed to continue expanding. While NASCAR remained at the heart of Mystic Racing League, the goal was never to limit the league to one form of motorsports. In 2021, INDYCAR competition was introduced, bringing open-wheel racing into the growing Mystic Racing League lineup. The league’s dirt program also continued to evolve through several different formats over the following seasons, including Dirt Late Models, Sprint Cars, and eventually SRX competition. Each addition brought something different to the community and helped establish Mystic Racing League as a place where drivers could experience multiple disciplines of motorsports under one banner. From 2020 through 2024, Mystic Racing League developed into one of the most established racing communities of the console era. Over those five seasons, the league completed more than 1,000 events, welcomed hundreds of competitors, secured its first sponsorship partnerships, and continued expanding the scale and professionalism of its operations. Among the league’s most memorable accomplishments was the Eldora Dirt Derby, which attracted an incredible 141 driver entries. The event became one of the largest races in console league racing history and represented just how far Mystic Racing League had grown from the small group of friends that began hosting races only a few years earlier. But as the league continued to grow, so did its ambitions. On October 7, 2024, Mystic Racing League announced the biggest transition in its history: beginning with the 2025 season, the league would leave its console roots behind and make the move to iRacing. The transition represented much more than simply changing racing platforms. It marked the beginning of an entirely new chapter for Mystic Racing League—one centered around greater realism, stronger competition, expanded opportunities, and the ability to bring even more forms of motorsports into the community. Beginning in 2025, Mystic Racing League expanded its presence beyond its traditional NASCAR foundation with competition across several racing disciplines. Short-track racing became an increasingly important part of the league through divisions such as Late Model Stocks, Super Late Models, Tour-Type Modifieds, Legend Cars, and Street Stocks, while NASCAR and INDYCAR continued to remain major pieces of the organization. The move to iRacing also allowed Mystic Racing League to continue raising the standard of its events, presentation, partnerships, and overall organization while staying true to the principles that helped build the league in the first place. What began in April 2019 as a handful of friends racing together has developed into a motorsports community built around competition, variety, and a shared passion for racing. Through platform changes, new series, major events, growing fields, and thousands of green-flag laps, Mystic Racing League has continued to evolve without losing sight of its original purpose.
